Uganda Anniversary
Greetings, Praise God for His goodness in all areas of our lives. HE is faithful. He has answered our prayers day by day HIS provision has sustained us. We have seen miracles on the right and on the left. We are assured of HIS love and care. All reports reaching us are exciting as we see the work of the Kingdom going forward Together in His service, Marion Peterson Uganda Anniversary Celebration Everyone who went to Uganda for the 50th Anniversary of the Pentecostal movement in Uganda is excited by what they saw and felt. Here is a quote from my brother Hugh's report, "The President's wife, Mama Janet, as she is affectionately called, was the honored guest and principle speaker for the evening. Janet Museveni is a born-again believer who is greatly loved and appreciated by all Christians in Uganda. We were honored to sit by her at the head table, which gave us an opportunity to share with her some of the story of the beginnings of the 'gospel of power' in Uganda in May 1960. One of the most significant aspects of the anniversary celebrations was the manifestation of UNITY of the various churches and fellowships in Kampala and the nation. This demonstration of UNITY was very meaningful to us as the prayer of Jesus for UNITY was an integral part of the message the Lord gave us at Glad Tidings in the '48 revival - "That they all may be ONE, that the world may believe." John 17:21. This was manifest in a communion service, during the banquet, led by various leaders and joyfully participated in by the representatives of the Pentecostal churches. Tuesday through Friday, more than 3000 pastors from all regions of Uganda and other East African nations, gathered daily in a large tent, which had been erected in the University football field. We were inspired by great times of worship and praise led by the outstanding Full Gospel Church choir. Of course the principle feature of the week was the anointed ministry of the Word, which chiefly focused on the challenge and call to the Ugandan church for evangelism and harvest as they launch into the next 50 years, should Jesus tarry." PRAY for the "aftermath" of the celebrations in Uganda to continue with fervency and zeal. Pray that the unity between the churches will grow stronger so that working together will increase in the coming months that the work of the Lord will go forward. Please Join Me in Praying... PRAY for our friend, Ruth Ruibal who is doing a great work in Columbia. Her national "side-kick" in the ministry had a stroke this last month. She is improving but needs much prayer for complete restoration. PRAY for missionary statesman, Hugh Layzell as he undergoes hip surgery this next month. The years of rough roads and travel have taken its toll. We believe God for minimal pain and a quick recovery. PRAY for Rick Ellis, pastor of Youth Church in Vancouver, B.C. He is experiencing health issues that could hinder his full ability to accomplish all that God has for him in the destiny of God's call. PRAY for the Institute of Biblical Studies that we are beginning here at Life Center in September. Marion is busy arranging the courses and administrating the details. The courses will include a combination of home and class study. We expect students from all walks of life and from many different communities and churches. PRAY for Lew as he has been diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). His doctor is renown in the field of cognitive challenges and we are very grateful for his expertise. Lew is encouraged, full of faith and believing that "by HIS STRIPES he is healed!" PRAY for Lew and Marion as they walk forward together in this season. Marion is not going to be able to teach school this coming school year as she is needed to be at home full time. We would also like to make a trip to Uganda next year.
